Poor Fuel Mileage GMC Sierra?
I own a 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 Crew Cab 2 Wheel Drive with 5.3L Engine with Active Fuel Management, and 3.73 Rear Axle Ratio. I had the GMC Cat Back Exhaust system added before I took delivery. I have 7,900 miles on my odometer. My fuel mileage is 12 to 13 miles per gallon. I do tow a 4,000 lb. boat with little decrease in fuel mileage. My non towing driving is in Over Drive. Can I expect my mileage to increase in the future?
My previous truck was a 1999 Chevy Silverado Extended Cab 2 Wheel Drive, 5.3L engine and 3.73 Rear Gear. I was getting 16-17 MPG non towing and 12-13 MPG towing.
It will go up a little bit as the car is broken in more … but at 8000 miles you aren’t going to get better than that.
Regrettably, new cars are much heavier than older ones due to safety features and things. So you will probably continue to get worse mileage on the new one over the old one.
I have a 1990′s Corolla that gets better mileage than a 2009 Corolla. Same engine, transmission, and trim level. Go fiture.
